What happens when you reach your recommendation limit¶

SmartSize Pro plans include a monthly quota for fit quiz size recommendations. When your store reaches that quota, the behavior of the fit quiz changes until the quota resets or you upgrade. This article explains what merchants and shoppers experience when the limit is reached.
The short version¶
When your store reaches its monthly recommendation limit:
- size charts continue to work normally
- fit quiz recommendations may be delayed for shoppers
- SmartSize sends you a notification
- the quota resets at the start of the next calendar month
- you can restore normal fit quiz service by upgrading to a higher Pro tier
How the limit works¶
SmartSize counts one recommendation per unique shopper per calendar month. A shopper who receives a recommendation for the first time this month uses one unit from your quota. If the same shopper returns and receives another recommendation later in the same month, it does not count again.
When the number of unique shoppers who have received recommendations equals your plan limit, your store has reached its quota.
For example, on a Pro 100 plan, the limit is reached when 100 different shoppers have received fit quiz recommendations during the current month.
What shoppers experience¶
If a shopper completes the fit quiz after your store has reached its monthly quota, SmartSize may delay the recommendation result. The shopper might see a brief waiting state instead of an immediate size suggestion.
Size charts are not affected. Shoppers can still open size charts, view tables, and compare measurements as usual. Only the AI fit quiz recommendation is impacted.
What merchants see¶
SmartSize notifies you before and when you reach important quota thresholds.
Before the limit:
- SmartSize sends a warning email when your store is approaching the monthly quota
- the email is sent to the address shown in your usage summary
At the limit:
- SmartSize sends another notification when the quota has been reached
- your usage summary in the app shows the current status
These warnings give you time to decide whether to upgrade or wait for the monthly reset.
How the quota resets¶
The recommendation quota resets at the start of each calendar month. On the first day of the month, every Pro plan returns to its full recommendation allowance, regardless of how much was used the previous month.
There is no rollover. Unused recommendations from one month do not carry over to the next.
Restoring normal service¶
You have two ways to restore immediate fit quiz recommendations before the monthly reset:
- Upgrade to a higher Pro tier. This increases your monthly quota immediately and restores normal fit quiz speed for all shoppers.
- Wait for the next calendar month. The quota resets automatically on the first day of the month.
There is no automatic overage billing. SmartSize does not charge extra per recommendation beyond your plan limit.
Examples¶
A store reaches its limit mid-month¶
Your store is on Pro 100. During a busy sales week, 100 unique shoppers complete the fit quiz and receive recommendations by the 18th of the month. Any new shopper who completes the fit quiz after that point may experience a delayed result until the quota resets on the 1st of the next month.
A store upgrades before reaching the limit¶
Your store is on Pro 100 and the usage warning shows you are at 80 recommendations with one week left in the month. You expect a weekend traffic spike, so you upgrade to Pro 250. Your quota immediately increases to 250 for the current month, and fit quiz recommendations continue to work at full speed.
