Choose where the SmartSize button appears

Guide type: Task guide Difficulty: Intermediate Applies to: Size Chart and Find my size buttons

Use button placement settings to decide where shoppers open a SmartSize size chart or fit quiz on your product page.

The placement options work the same way for both SmartSize buttons:

  • Size Chart button for size charts
  • Find my size button for fit quizzes

The screenshots in this guide show size chart settings, but the same placement methods apply to the fit quiz button.

Where should I place the SmartSize button on my product pages?

SmartSize can place the Size Chart or Find my size button automatically inside the product form, as a floating widget, or at a specific position using an app block. The best option depends on your theme structure and how much control you want over placement.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • the SmartSize app extension turned on for the button you want to show
  • at least one active size chart or fit quiz
  • product display rules that match the product you are testing

If the button is not showing at all, see SmartSize button is missing from my product page.

1. Open the button placement settings

In SmartSize, go to Settings.

Open the button settings for the feature you want to configure:

  • Button size charts for the Size Chart button
  • Fit quiz button for the Find my size button

Then open Placement.

2. Choose a placement method

For most Shopify themes, start with Automatic placement.

Automatic placement lets SmartSize place the button near the product form, usually close to the size selector or add-to-cart area.

Save your changes, then open a matching product page and confirm the button appears in a useful place.

Some themes use product page layouts that make inline automatic placement difficult.

If the button is missing, hidden, or appears in an awkward location, choose a Floating button placement.

A floating button is a good fallback because it does not need to sit inside the product form.

After choosing a floating button, open a matching product page and check the position on desktop and mobile.

Confirm that the button is visible but does not cover important product information, the add-to-cart button, or other theme widgets.

Use App block placement when you want to place the button manually in the Shopify theme editor.

This is useful when:

  • your theme has a special product page layout
  • automatic placement cannot find the right location
  • you want the button inside a specific product information section

Click the option to open the theme editor, then add or move the SmartSize app block in the product template.

If SmartSize cannot find a stable automatic selector, it may show a warning.

For advanced or heavily customized themes, you can use Custom selector placement. This tells SmartSize exactly which page element should be used for button placement.

Use this option only if you are comfortable working with CSS selectors, or if a developer or SmartSize support gives you the selector to use.

3. Save and check the storefront

Click Save.

Then open a product page that matches your product display rules.

Confirm that:

  • the button appears on the product page
  • the button is easy to find
  • the button does not cover important product content
  • clicking the button opens the size chart or fit quiz popup

If the button still does not appear

Check the setup in this order:

  1. The correct SmartSize app extension is active.
  2. The size chart or fit quiz is Active.
  3. The product matches the product display rules.
  4. The selected placement method works with your theme.
