No size recommendation from the fit quiz¶
Guide type: Troubleshooting guide Difficulty: Beginner Applies to: Fit quizzes
Use this guide when shoppers complete a fit quiz but do not receive a size recommendation.
Why isn't my fit quiz recommending a size?¶
If shoppers finish a fit quiz but see "No recommendation" or a blank result, the quiz is not mapping body measurements to any size in its table. This usually means the size table is incomplete, measurement ranges do not overlap with the shopper's input, or the quiz settings are misconfigured.
Symptoms¶
You may see one of these symptoms:
- the quiz ends with a message such as No recommendation or We could not find a match
- the recommendation area is blank after the last question
- the quiz shows a size that does not exist for the product
- some shoppers get a recommendation and others do not
Quick checks¶
1. Check that the fit quiz is published¶
A fit quiz in Draft is not shown to shoppers.
Open the fit quiz and check the Status field. Change it to Active and click Save if needed.
2. Check that the size table is complete¶
The fit quiz needs a complete size table to match shopper measurements to product sizes.
Open the fit quiz and review the size table. Confirm that:
- every size has measurements entered
- no cells are blank
- the measurements cover the expected shopper range
If the table is incomplete, fill in the missing measurements or regenerate it from a clearer source image or spreadsheet.
3. Check that the product matches the quiz¶
A fit quiz only appears on products that match its Product display rules.
Open the quiz and review the matching product list. Confirm that the product you are testing appears there. If it does not, update the product display rules and save.
4. Check the measurement ranges¶
If shopper measurements fall outside the smallest or largest size in the table, the quiz cannot recommend a size.
Review the first and last rows of the size table. If your shoppers are smaller or larger than those ranges, add sizes that cover them.
Causes and fixes¶
Cause: the size table is incomplete¶
What happens: The quiz cannot calculate a match because some sizes or measurements are missing.
Fix: Open the size table and fill in every cell. If you used AI import, review the generated data for missing values and correct them.
Cause: shopper measurements do not match any size range¶
What happens: The shopper's measurements are smaller than the smallest size or larger than the largest size in the table.
Fix: Add smaller or larger sizes to the table, or adjust the measurement ranges of existing sizes to cover your shoppers.
Cause: the product is not connected to the quiz¶
What happens: The quiz is active and complete, but the product does not match the product display rules.
Fix: Open the quiz, go to Product display rules, and add the product or a collection that contains it. Save the quiz and test again.
Cause: conflicting measurements in the table¶
What happens: Two sizes have overlapping or identical measurement ranges, so the quiz cannot decide which one to recommend.
Fix: Review the table and make sure each size has a unique, non-overlapping measurement range. Sizes should progress smoothly from smallest to largest.
Check the result¶
After applying a fix:
- Save the fit quiz.
- Open the matching product page on your storefront.
- Start the quiz and enter test measurements.
- Confirm that the quiz shows a clear size recommendation.
- Test with measurements at the edges of your table to make sure edge cases are covered.
If it still does not work¶
Contact SmartSize support and include:
- the product URL where the quiz is shown
- the name of the fit quiz
- a screenshot of the size table
- the measurements you used for testing
- what the quiz shows instead of a recommendation
This helps support check whether the issue is in the table data, product matching, or quiz configuration.
