SmartSize button is missing from my product page¶

Use this guide when a SmartSize button does not appear on a product page where you expect it.
Why isn't my SmartSize button showing?¶
The missing button may be:
- the Size Chart button for a size chart
- the Find my size button for a fit quiz
- both buttons on the same product page
Before you start¶
Know which button should appear on the product you are testing. If you are not sure whether the product matches a size chart or a fit quiz, check the product display rules for the chart or quiz in SmartSize.
Open the product page on your live storefront, not in the theme editor preview. Refresh the page at least once after making any changes.
Use this section when the Size Chart button is the only button missing.
Quick checks¶
1. Check that the Size chart app extension is active¶
SmartSize uses the Size chart extension to show the Size Chart button on product pages.
From the SmartSize Home page, open the App extensions card.
If the Size chart extension is Inactive, turn it on in your live Shopify theme.

After turning it on, return to SmartSize and confirm the extension shows Active.

2. Check that the size chart is Active¶
A size chart in Draft is hidden from shoppers.
In SmartSize, go to Size charts and open the chart that should appear on this product. Make sure Status is set to Active, then save.
3. Check that the product matches the display rules¶
Open the size chart and review Product display rules. Confirm the product you are testing appears in the matching product list.

If the product is missing, update the display rules. For a quick test, select the exact product and save.
4. Check button placement after a theme change¶
If you recently changed or updated your Shopify theme, automatic button placement may no longer find the right spot.
Go to Global settings > Button placement and check whether SmartSize shows a warning about automatic placement.

If automatic placement is not working, switch to another method:
- Floating button — appears as a tab or widget on the product page.
- App block placement — place the button manually in the Shopify theme editor.

Use this section when the Find my size button is the only button missing.
Quick checks¶
1. Confirm your plan includes fit quizzes¶
Fit quizzes are available on Pro plans. If you are on Free, Starter, or Growth, fit quizzes are not enabled.
In SmartSize, go to Settings > Plans and check your current plan.

If your plan does not include fit quizzes, upgrade to Pro to enable the feature. For details, see SmartSize plans and feature limits.
2. Check that the Fit quiz app extension is active¶
SmartSize uses the Fit quiz extension to show the Find my size button on product pages.
From the SmartSize Home page, open the App extensions card.
If the Fit quiz extension is Inactive, turn it on in your live Shopify theme.

After turning it on, return to SmartSize and confirm the extension shows Active.

3. Check that the fit quiz is Active¶
A fit quiz in Draft is hidden from shoppers.
In SmartSize, go to Fit quizzes and open the quiz that should appear on this product. Make sure Status is set to Active, then save.
4. Check that the product matches the display rules¶
Open the fit quiz and review Product display rules. Confirm the product you are testing appears in the matching product list.
If the product is missing, update the display rules. For a quick test, select the exact product and save.
5. Check button placement after a theme change¶
If you recently changed your Shopify theme, automatic placement may no longer work.
Go to Global settings > Button placement and switch to Floating button or App block placement if you see an automatic placement warning.

Use this section when no SmartSize button appears at all on a product page where you expect one.
Quick checks¶
1. Check that the app extension is active¶
SmartSize uses app extensions to show buttons on your storefront.
From the SmartSize Home page, open the App extensions card and check the status for:
- Size chart extension
- Fit quiz extension
If the extension you need is Inactive, turn it on in your Shopify theme editor. Save the theme, return to SmartSize, and confirm the status shows Active.

2. Check that the chart or quiz is Active¶
A size chart or fit quiz in Draft is not shown to shoppers.
Open the chart or quiz and check the Status field. If it is ready, change the status to Active and click Save.

3. Check that the product matches the display rules¶
A chart or quiz only appears on products that match its Product display rules.
Open the chart or quiz and review the matching product list. Confirm that the product you are testing appears in the list.

If the product is missing, update the display rules. For a first test, select one exact product instead of a broad collection or tag.

4. Check if the theme structure prevents automatic placement¶
Some Shopify themes use product page sections or custom components that make automatic button placement difficult. SmartSize may show a warning when it cannot find a stable automatic selector.

If automatic placement is not working, try:
- Floating button — shows the button as a floating tab or widget on the product page.
- App block placement — lets you place the button manually in the Shopify theme editor.

5. Check if you saved a draft theme instead of the live theme¶
Changes made in a draft or development theme do not affect the live storefront.
If you turned on the app embed in a draft theme, the extension may still be inactive on the live storefront. Open the live theme in Shopify and turn on the app embed there.
Causes and fixes summary¶

Check the result¶
After making changes:
- Click Save in SmartSize or Shopify, depending on where you made the change.
- Open the matching product page on your storefront.
- Refresh the page.
- Confirm that the correct button appears:
- Size Chart for a size chart
- Find my size for a fit quiz
If it still does not work¶
Contact SmartSize support and include:
- the product URL where the button is missing
- the name of the size chart or fit quiz that should appear
- a screenshot of the App extensions status
- a screenshot of the product display rules
- your Shopify theme name
This helps support check whether the issue is caused by setup, product matching, or the theme structure.
