Create your first fit quiz¶
Guide type: Step-by-step tutorial Difficulty: Beginner Applies to: Fit quizzes
In this tutorial, you will create a simple Prediction fit quiz, connect it to one product, publish it, and check that shoppers can open it on your storefront.
This is a guided first setup. It does not cover every fit quiz setting.
What you'll do¶
You will:
- Start a new fit quiz.
- Choose who the quiz is for.
- Choose which body measurements the quiz should use.
- Choose the Prediction quiz type.
- Name the draft quiz.
- Add your size chart image.
- Tell SmartSize what the image contains.
- Review the extracted measurements.
- Connect the quiz to a product.
- Preview the prediction quiz.
- Publish the quiz and check it on your storefront.
Before you start¶
Make sure you have:
- SmartSize installed in your Shopify store
- the Fit quiz extension turned on in your live theme
- one product you want to test with
- a size chart image for that product
If the Fit quiz extension is not active yet, follow Turn on the SmartSize app extensions first.
1. Start a new fit quiz¶
In SmartSize, go to Fit quizzes and click Create quiz.

SmartSize opens the new quiz setup flow.
2. Choose who the quiz is for¶
On Who is this quiz for?, select the shopper group that matches the product.
For this tutorial, choose Woman.

Click Next.
3. Choose the body measurements¶
On Select body parts to measure, choose the measurements that matter for this product.
For this first quiz, keep the setup simple. Select the main measurements from your size chart, such as Bust, Waist, and Hips.

Click Next.
4. Choose the Prediction quiz type¶
On Choose quiz type, select Prediction.
A Prediction quiz asks simple questions and estimates the shopper's measurements before recommending a size. This is the default path for a first fit quiz.
SmartSize also offers Precision quizzes, where shoppers enter or adjust their measurements directly. You can explore Precision later if that experience fits your store better.
Click Create quiz.
SmartSize creates the draft quiz and opens the quiz editor.
5. Name the draft quiz¶
In the quiz editor, enter a clear name for the quiz. Use a name that helps you recognize the product, collection, or season it belongs to.
Leave the quiz in Draft while you set it up.
6. Add your size chart image¶
In the Size table section, click Add files and choose the size chart image from your computer.
After the file is added, SmartSize shows a preview of the uploaded image.

7. Tell SmartSize what the image contains¶
Open My image contains and choose the option that matches your chart.
For this first quiz, choose Body measurements if your chart lists shopper body measurements such as bust, waist, or hip.
Click Start Extraction.
SmartSize analyzes the table and fills in the size data.
8. Review the extracted measurements¶
When extraction finishes, review the size table carefully.
Check that:
- each size row is present
- measurement values are in the right columns
- the measurement unit is correct
- the live preview looks reasonable
You can edit any value before publishing.

9. Connect the quiz to one product¶
A fit quiz must match at least one product before shoppers can see it.
For this tutorial, use one test product. In Product display rules, select the product that should show this quiz.

The product should appear as a matching product for the quiz.
10. Preview the prediction quiz¶
Use the live preview to go through the quiz as a shopper.
Enter sample answers and move through the quiz until you reach a size recommendation.

A Prediction quiz may ask simple fit questions, such as where the shopper carries more volume.
When the preview reaches a recommendation, the quiz is ready to publish.
11. Publish the quiz¶
Open the Status dropdown and choose Active.
Click Save.
SmartSize shows a saved confirmation when the active quiz has been saved.
Check your result¶
Open the product page you connected to the quiz.
You should see the Find my size button near the product options.

Click Find my size. The fit quiz popup should open on the product page.

You have created and published your first SmartSize fit quiz.
Next steps¶
After your first quiz is working, you can:
- create more quizzes for other product groups
- set up broader product display rules
- test recommendations in Fit Lab
- adjust the Find my size button in your theme settings
