Create a size chart¶
Guide type: Task guide Difficulty: Beginner Applies to: Size charts
Create a new SmartSize size chart and connect it to products so shoppers can view it on your storefront.
How do I create a size chart for my products?¶
A size chart shows shoppers a table of measurements for each product size. You create the chart in SmartSize, then use product display rules to connect it to the right products. Shoppers see a Size Chart button on matching product pages.
Before you start¶
- SmartSize is installed in your Shopify store.
- The Size chart extension is active on your live theme. If it is not, follow Turn on the SmartSize app extensions first.
- You have size measurements for the products you want to chart.
1. Start a new size chart¶
In SmartSize, go to Size charts and click Create size chart.
2. Choose the audience and garment type¶
On Who is this chart for?, select the shopper group that matches your product.

Choose the garment type that best matches your product. The garment type helps SmartSize create a more relevant starting structure.

Click Next.
3. Choose a visual style¶
Pick a visual style for the chart. You can change the design later.

Click Next.
4. Name the size chart¶
Enter a clear name that helps you recognize the product or audience. For example, use Women's dress size chart instead of a generic name.

Click Create size chart. SmartSize opens the size chart editor with a draft chart.
5. Review and adjust the content¶
In the editor, review the desktop and mobile previews. Check that the size rows and measurement columns match your products.

If you need to change measurements or add content blocks, see Edit a size chart. For now, you can keep the default content and adjust it later.
6. Connect the chart to products¶
A size chart must match at least one product before shoppers can see it.
In the editor, open Product display rules and click Select products. Choose one or more products, then click Select.

For broader targeting, you can use collections, product types, or tags instead of individual products. See Assign a size chart to products.
7. Save the chart¶
Click Save. SmartSize confirms when the chart has been saved.

The chart is saved in Draft status. Shoppers cannot see a draft chart on your storefront.
8. Publish the chart¶
At the top of the editor, open the Status dropdown and choose Active.
Click Save again. SmartSize confirms the active chart has been saved.
Check the result¶
The new chart appears in your Size charts list with Active status.
