Create a fit quiz¶
Guide type: Task guide Difficulty: Beginner Applies to: Fit quizzes
Create a new fit quiz for a product group so shoppers can get a size recommendation.
How do I create a fit quiz for my Shopify store?¶
A fit quiz asks shoppers a few questions about their body measurements, then recommends the best size based on your size table. Fit quizzes are available on Pro plans and help reduce size-related returns for complex categories.
Before you start¶
- SmartSize is installed in your Shopify store.
- The Fit quiz extension is active on your live theme. If it is not, follow Turn on the SmartSize app extensions first.
- You have a size chart image or spreadsheet ready for the product you want to quiz.
1. Start a new quiz¶
In SmartSize, go to Fit quizzes and click Create quiz.

2. Choose the audience and measurements¶
On Who is this quiz for?, select the shopper group that matches your product. For example, choose Woman for a women's dress.
On Select body parts to measure, pick the measurements that matter for this product. A typical women's apparel quiz uses Bust, Waist, and Hips.
Click Next.
3. Choose a quiz type¶
On Choose quiz type, select the experience you want shoppers to have:
| Quiz type | What shoppers do | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Prediction | Answer simple questions about height, weight, and fit preferences | Most apparel stores |
| Precision | Enter or adjust their exact measurements | Lingerie, tailored goods, or when precision matters |
| Lingerie | Follow a bra-specific flow | Lingerie and intimate apparel |
For most stores, choose Prediction. Click Create quiz.

SmartSize opens the quiz editor with the new quiz in Draft status.
4. Add a size table¶
The size table tells SmartSize how each size maps to body measurements.
Option A: Upload a size chart image¶
In the Size table section, click Add files and choose your size chart image. After the image uploads, open My image contains and choose the option that matches your chart. Then click Start Extraction.

SmartSize analyzes the image and fills in the size rows. Review the extracted data carefully. Check that each size is present, the measurement values are in the right columns, and the unit is correct.

Option B: Paste from a spreadsheet¶
If you already have the data in a spreadsheet, copy the size rows and measurement columns, then open the Size table section in SmartSize, click Paste table, and paste the data.

Option C: Enter values manually¶
Click Add size and type each measurement range directly into the table.
5. Connect the quiz to products¶
A fit quiz must be connected to at least one product before shoppers can see it.
In Product display rules, click Select products and choose the products or collections this quiz should match. SmartSize shows how many products match the rule.

6. Optionally connect a size chart¶
If you have a SmartSize size chart for the same products, you can connect it to the quiz. Shoppers will then be able to open both the fit quiz and the size chart from the same product page.
In the quiz editor, open Link to size chart, search for the chart, and click Link size chart.

7. Save the quiz¶
The quiz is saved in Draft status. Shoppers cannot see a draft quiz on your storefront.
8. Publish the quiz¶
At the top of the editor, open the Status dropdown and choose Active.
Click Save. SmartSize confirms the active quiz has been saved.
Check the result¶
The quiz appears in your Fit quizzes list with Active status. To test the shopper experience, follow Preview a fit quiz.
