Import, export, duplicate, or delete a size chart

Guide type: Task guide Difficulty: Intermediate Applies to: Size charts

Manage your size chart library by importing backups, exporting charts for safekeeping, duplicating existing charts, or removing charts you no longer need.

Before you start

  • You have access to the SmartSize Size charts list.
  • For import, you have a valid SmartSize size chart export file.

Duplicate a size chart

Duplicating is the fastest way to create a new chart that looks like an existing one.

  1. In SmartSize, go to Size charts.
  2. Find the chart you want to copy.
  3. Click the Duplicate button on the chart row.

SmartSize creates a new chart with the same content, product display rules, and priority as the original. The new chart is named after the original with a duplicate suffix, and its status is set to Draft.

  1. Open the duplicated chart and edit the name, measurements, or product display rules.
  2. Click Save.

Duplicating does not copy the original's publish status or any connected quiz. You can connect the new chart to products and publish it when ready.

Export a size chart

Exporting saves a chart as a JSON file you can store as a backup or share with your team.

  1. In SmartSize, go to Size charts.
  2. Find the chart you want to export.
  3. Click the Export JSON button on the chart row.

The export downloads to your computer. It contains the full chart content, structure, and settings.

Keep exports in a safe place so you can re-import them later if needed.

Import a size chart

Importing restores a chart from a previously exported JSON file.

  1. In SmartSize, go to Size charts.
  2. Click the menu next to New size chart and choose Import size chart.
  3. In the Import size chart modal, paste the JSON text from your export file into the field.
  4. Click Import.

SmartSize validates the JSON and creates a new draft chart from it. If the JSON is invalid or not a size chart export, SmartSize shows an error so you can check the file and try again.

  1. After import, open the chart, review the content, and update the product display rules.
  2. Click Save.

Import size charts from Kiwi Size Charts CSV

If you are migrating from Kiwi Size Charts, SmartSize can import your existing CSV exports directly.

  1. In SmartSize, go to Size charts.
  2. Click the menu next to New size chart and choose Import from Kiwi.
  3. Upload one or more CSV files:
  4. TOP_CM.csv — for tops and upper-body garments
  5. BOTTOM_CM.csv — for bottoms and lower-body garments
  6. Two-Piece_Set_CM.csv — for coordinated sets
  7. Click Import charts.

SmartSize parses each CSV, deduplicates measurements across groups, and creates new Draft size charts. Review the titles, content, and product links before publishing.

Important: Running the import twice creates duplicate charts. Delete previously imported drafts before re-running.

The import summary shows: - How many charts were created and from how many Kiwi charts - How many product associations were created - Any charts that failed to import, with the error reason

AI table upload sessions

When you upload an image or spreadsheet for AI extraction (for example, in a fit quiz or size chart), SmartSize creates an upload session to track the extraction process.

The session follows this lifecycle:

  1. Pending — The image or file is uploaded and queued for extraction.
  2. Extracting — AI reads the image and builds a size table.
  3. Testing — You review the extracted data in the editor before applying it.
  4. Applied — You confirm the extraction and the data is saved to the chart or quiz.
  5. Reverted — You discard the extraction and the original data is restored.

Sessions expire after 24 hours if not completed, or are marked abandoned after 30 minutes of inactivity. You do not need to manage sessions manually — SmartSize handles cleanup automatically.

Delete a size chart

Deleting removes a chart permanently from your SmartSize dashboard and storefront.

  1. In SmartSize, go to Size charts.
  2. Find the chart you want to remove.
  3. Click the Delete button on the chart row.
  4. Confirm the deletion in the modal.

SmartSize warns you if the chart is connected to a fit quiz. Deleting the chart does not delete the quiz, but shoppers will no longer see the size chart on product pages.

You can also delete multiple charts at once by selecting them in the list and using the bulk delete action.

Check the result

  • Duplicated: the new chart appears in the list with Draft status.
  • Exported: the JSON file is saved to your computer.
  • Imported: the restored chart appears in the list with Draft status.
  • Deleted: the chart no longer appears in the list or on any product page.

If a deleted chart was still showing on your storefront, clear your browser cache and check again. SmartSize updates the storefront data shortly after deletion.
