Add international sizes and unit conversion

Guide type: Task guide Difficulty: Intermediate Applies to: Size chart tables

Help international shoppers find their size by adding regional size columns and unit conversion to your size chart tables.

Before you start

  • The size chart has been created and saved.
  • The chart contains a table block with size rows and measurement columns.
  • You know which size standard your products use (for example, US, EU, or UK).
  • You know whether your measurements are in centimeters or inches.

1. Open the table block settings

In SmartSize, go to Size charts and open the chart you want to edit.

In the editor, select the table block. The settings panel opens on the right side.

2. Attach international sizes

In the settings panel, find the International Sizes section and click + Attach international sizes.

SmartSize attaches a size translation library to the table. This lets you show equivalent sizes from other regions next to your own.

3. Choose the size library and source column

Set up the translation by telling SmartSize which column contains your base sizes and which standard they follow.

  • Size library — choose the library that matches your product category, such as apparel or footwear.
  • Your size column — select the column that holds your primary sizes. SmartSize usually detects this automatically.
  • Your sizes use — pick the region your sizes represent, such as US or EU.

If SmartSize auto-detects any of these fields, a small hint appears below the field so you can verify the choice.

4. Enable regions for shoppers

Under Let shoppers pick from, check the regions you want to show on the storefront. For example, if your sizes are US-based, you might enable EU and UK so international shoppers can see their local equivalents.

Shoppers will see the regions you enable as extra columns in the size chart popup on your product pages.

5. Review the live preview

The settings panel shows a live preview of the translated columns. Review the values to make sure they match your products.

If any value looks wrong, you can edit it directly in the preview. SmartSize marks overridden values so you can tell which ones you changed.

Copy international sizes from another chart

If you have already configured international sizes on one chart, you can copy those settings to another chart instead of setting them up again.

  1. In the size chart editor, open the table block settings.
  2. Go to the International Sizes section.
  3. Click Copy from another chart.
  4. Select the source chart that has the international size settings you want.
  5. SmartSize copies the attached size library, source column, base region, and enabled shopper regions to the current chart.
  6. Review the preview and adjust any values that differ for this product.
  7. Save the chart.

Copying international sizes does not overwrite your table's measurements or size values. It only copies the international size translation configuration, so the equivalent size columns appear on the storefront.

Charts that are excluded from the picker are filtered out automatically — for example, the chart you are currently editing will not appear in the list so you cannot copy from yourself.

6. Set up unit conversion

Open the Unit Conversion section in the table block settings. This lets shoppers switch between centimeters and inches on the storefront.

Enable conversion for each measurement column that should support switching. Choose the unit the values are currently entered in. SmartSize calculates the other unit automatically.

If a column should not be converted, you can leave conversion off for that column.

7. Save the chart

Click Save. SmartSize confirms when the chart has been saved.

Check the result

Make sure the chart is set to Active so shoppers can see it on the storefront.

Open a product page that matches the chart's product display rules. Click the Size Chart button.

  • The table should show the international size columns you enabled.
  • A unit toggle should appear for columns with conversion turned on.
  • Shoppers can switch between centimeters and inches depending on their preference.

If the international columns do not appear, check that: - the chart is Active - the Size chart extension is active on your live theme - the product matches the chart's product display rules
