How recommendation usage is counted

SmartSize Pro plans include a monthly fit quiz recommendation quota. This article explains what counts toward that quota and how SmartSize keeps you informed about usage.

The quota applies only to fit quiz size recommendations. It does not apply to size chart views.

The short version

A recommendation is counted once per unique shopper per calendar month.

This means:

  • the first recommendation for a shopper in a month counts as 1 recommendation
  • repeat recommendations for the same shopper in the same month do not count again
  • a different shopper who receives a recommendation counts separately
  • the quota resets each calendar month

What counts as a recommendation

A recommendation is counted when a shopper receives a SmartSize fit quiz size recommendation.

For example, if a shopper completes the fit quiz and SmartSize recommends size M, that counts as one recommendation for that shopper for the month.

What does not count

These actions do not count as fit quiz recommendations:

  • viewing a size chart
  • opening a product page
  • seeing the Find my size button
  • opening the fit quiz without reaching a recommendation
  • repeat recommendations for the same shopper in the same calendar month

Examples

One shopper uses the fit quiz once

A shopper completes the fit quiz and receives a size recommendation.

Usage result: 1 recommendation counted.

The same shopper comes back later in the month

The same shopper returns two weeks later and receives another recommendation.

Usage result: 0 additional recommendations counted.

SmartSize already counted that shopper for the current calendar month.

Three different shoppers use the fit quiz

Three different shoppers each complete the fit quiz and receive a size recommendation.

Usage result: 3 recommendations counted.

SmartSize is designed to be transparent about usage. You can check your quota consumption at any time.

How SmartSize warns you about quota usage

SmartSize sends usage notifications before and after important quota thresholds.

You receive warnings when your store is approaching the fit quiz recommendation quota. SmartSize also sends notifications if the quota has been reached.

These notifications are sent to the email address shown in your usage summary.

What happens when you reach the quota

If your fit quiz recommendation quota is reached, the limit affects fit quiz recommendations only.

Size charts continue to work.

For fit quizzes, shoppers may experience a delay before receiving a recommendation while the store is over quota.

To restore normal fit quiz recommendation flow, upgrade to a Pro tier with a higher monthly recommendation quota.

Why SmartSize counts unique shoppers

Counting unique shoppers keeps recommendation usage fair and predictable.

A shopper can return, review their recommendation, or run the quiz again during the same month without repeatedly reducing your quota.

This helps stores understand usage as the number of distinct shoppers receiving fit advice, not the number of clicks, page views, or repeat visits.
