No products match my display rules

Use this guide when a size chart or fit quiz shows 0 products match or the SmartSize button does not appear on products you expect it to.

Symptoms

You may see one of these symptoms:

  • the product display rules show 0 products match
  • the button appears on some products but not others
  • a product that used to show the button no longer shows it
  • the button appears on the wrong products

Quick checks

1. Confirm the chart or quiz is published

A size chart or fit quiz in Draft does not appear on any product.

Open the chart or quiz and check the Status. Change it to Active and save if needed.

2. Check the match setting

Open Product display rules and look for the Match any or Match all setting.

  • Match any means the product matches if at least one condition is true.
  • Match all means the product must satisfy every condition.

If you have several conditions and the rules show 0 products match, try switching to Match any.

3. Check the conditions

Review each condition in the product display rule:

  • Collection — confirm the product is still in that collection
  • Product type — confirm the product type field in Shopify matches your rule
  • Tag — confirm the product still has that tag
  • Vendor — confirm the vendor name matches exactly

If a product was moved to a different collection or its tags were changed, the old rule may no longer match.

4. Test with one exact product

For a quick test, replace your collection or tag conditions with one specific product.

Select the product in the Products condition and save. If the button appears, the issue is with your broader conditions.

Causes and fixes

Cause: Match all with too many conditions

What happens: You added several conditions and left the rule on Match all. The product must satisfy every condition at once, which is rarely true.

Fix: Switch the rule to Match any, or remove conditions until only the essential ones remain.

Cause: product data changed in Shopify

What happens: A product was moved to a different collection, lost a tag, or changed type. The old rule no longer matches.

Fix: Update the product display rule to use the current collection, tag, or type. Or switch the condition to Products and select the exact products you want.

Cause: the chart or quiz is not published

What happens: The product display rules are correct, but the chart or quiz is still in Draft.

Fix: Open the chart or quiz, set Status to Active, and save.

Cause: the product display rules were not saved

What happens: You changed the rules but did not save the chart or quiz.

Fix: Reopen the chart or quiz, confirm the rules are correct, and click Save.

Check the result

After applying a fix:

  1. Save the chart or quiz.
  2. Open the product page on your storefront.
  3. Refresh the page.
  4. Confirm that the SmartSize button appears on the expected product.
  5. Check a few other products to make sure the rule matches the right group.

If it still does not work

Contact SmartSize support and include:

  • the product URL where the button is missing
  • the name of the size chart or fit quiz
  • a screenshot of the product display rules
  • the Shopify collection, tag, or type you expected to match

This helps support check whether the issue is in the rule logic, product data, or chart status.
